Theo's First Birthday Party

Last sunday, Mike and I invited friends and family to come celebrate Theo's 1st birthday at a Western-themed party at our place. What began as a casual gathering with a few friends and family turned into a Western-themed party with tiny cowboy boots, chili bar, DIY decorations and a country playlist. Apparently I don't know how to do low-key. The hard work truly paid off though because Theo was thrilled to see so many familiar faces gathered at our home. Did he notice the feather garlands or the fact that his parents were dressed in their finest Western gear? Nope. But my hope is that one day he will look back on these pictures and think "my parents are so embarrassing". Sidenote: As I type this post, my son is in his crib making very loud fart noises with his mouth, which is causing me to giggle uncontrollably. I love that kid.

{I made a large batch of lamb chili with all the fixings}

{My mother-in-law baked "baby-friendly" cupcakes that were naturally-sweetened and decorated with tiny chocolate cowboy hats fashioned out of chocolate covered chips and rolos!}

{Theo did not blow out his candle but he did try to grab the flame repeatedly}

{My father brought his tiny felt baby cowboy boots - he's from Alberta - as well as a collection of pictures of my brother and I riding horses}
