Eleven years ago today, I won the lottery without even knowing it. Imagine that! I had no idea that I was on a date with the man that I would be spending my life with (thank goodness, because that's a lot of pressure for a first date). On March 1st 2002, I wore a Double Bubble t-shirt and pigtails and caught a screening of The Royal Tennebaums with my buddy from class (Mike). The rest, as they say is history. Mike and I often say that our relationship has been a series of chapters. Some better than others but all of them significant. We did a lot of growing up together and I am amazed that we were able to do it all side by side. A sense of humor, mutual goals and a real commitment to making it work have been the connecting threads that have held our story together. Plus, I think the man is drop dead gorgeous and just about the kindest person I've ever met. And he does things like illustrate relationship milestones from the past 11 years and sticks them to our fridge to surprise me in the morning. What a guy.
// I'd love to hear how you met your significant other! Do you still celebrate dating anniversaries?

Mike's fridge cartoons could be the sweetest date-iversary gift ever. No, it's not corny -- when something is great, take every opportunity to celebrate it.
My partner Patrick and I always celebrate the day we met, which was a Friday the 13th (of November 2009). He was one of the presenters at a conference I was attending for work, though I hadn't signed up for his workshop. It turned out that the workshop I was in was really terrible, so I jumped ship after lunch and crashed his. His workshop was called, "Choose the Life You Want" and did we ever...in no time at all we'd both chosen the life we wanted: a life together. And I wouldn't have it any other way. :-)
Happy date-iversary to you and Mike!
So cute :)
That is the cutest thing ever! :) You made a good choice holding on to that man!
Hahaaa!! Way to go Mike!! Love those drawings - hilarious :) Our first date happened so close to our wedding date that we just forgot about it. We're kinda lazy like that ;) Happy date-a-versary!! xoxo
Awwww! This is incredibly adorable. Happy date-a-versary!
I met my husband when I was working as a waitress in a latin restaurant, and him and his friends were seated in my section. He was a very memorable guest (feeding spoonfuls of dishes to other tables), and I ran into him the following night at a concert, where we exchanged numbers. The rest is history. We can never really remember or decide when was the first "date" so we've happily adopted our wedding date as the new official celebration.
I love Hilary's story too!
I love this! Happy (belated) anniversary to one of the most incredible couples we know! xoxo
I love the one where Penny is thinking "WTF"!
also, does 2004 say Gerts?! As in the bar on McGill campus? I thought it was a myth that it use to be popular!
