They're calling for -42 tonight. MINUS FORTY-TWO. It's inhumane really. And what makes -42 even harder to handle? Having to get around with a 21 lbs baby, that's what. It already takes us a good 15 minutes to leave the house but when you add about 40 layers of clothing, it's 30 minutes plus of squirming, crying and sweating - and that's just me. The baby is just plain angry, confused and uncomfortable. Yesterday, our day went a little something like this:
11am - Get dressed to go outside
11h15am - Strap Theo into the Ergo baby carrier
11h20am - Walk to car and swear under my breath as my mascara runs down my cheeks
11h25am - Unstrap Theo from Ergo and strap him in the car seat
11h35am - Drive to café
11h45am - Unstrap Theo from car seat and strap Theo into Ergo
11h50am - Walk to café
12pm - Unstrap Theo from Ergo and take him out of winter gear
1pm - Dress Theo and strap him back into the Ergo and walk to play group
1h15pm - Unstrap Theo from Ergo and undress him
3h15pm - Get dressed for outside and strap Theo in the Ergo
3h30pm - Walk to car and swear under my breath as the wind burns my cheeks
3h40pm - Unstrap Theo from Ergo and strap him in the car seat
3h50pm - Drive home
4pm - Take Theo out of car seat and strap him into the Ergo
4h10pm - Walk home
4h20pm - Unstrap Theo and undress him
4h30pm - Collapse on living room floor
So much strapping and unstrapping. So much work for such a simple outing. This morning my body aches all over. My back hurts more than it did after my first time snowboarding. I don't know how we're going to do it all over again today but we must. It may be an Arctic freeze out there but life goes on. If you live somewhere where there are palm trees - I kind of resent you today. My apologies.

I feel your pain!
With the 2 boys (1 & 3) it takes what seems like years to get out of the house.
Please Spring, hurry.
xoxoMB
Oh my I am right there with you. At least you are getting out a bit. I'm staying in, getting cabin fever and going crazy. I can't imagine staying home with kids further up north. yikes!
At least you have a car. Imagine taking the metro?! And wait til you have 2 kids. It's worse.
Having a baby makes me hate winter...
These days I have to dress up my 2-year old, strap her in the stroller, walk 10 minutes to the daycare, unstrap her, undress her at daycare, walk to metro, walk to the office.... and I am 7-month pregnant!!! Oh joy.
I'd stay in the house for a couple of days if I were you... Without any guilt trip ;-)
Je vis à Los Angeles. Désolée.
J'ai passé Noël au Québec avec ma fille de 10 mois et ce fut l'enfer de dealer avec l'habit de neige... Je vous lève mon chapeau!
Yes, but your hair looks amazing! ;)
BTW,I dressed my 37lb 2 year old for yoga and then lunch today and am thinking of skipping our plan for a swim later. Too. Much. Work!
This made me chuckle, feel bad for you, and miss you all at the same time.
honestly, I don't know if I would even dare leave the house with 2 kids! WOW - kudos to those of you who make it happen!
Gets easier as they grow older! My kids, 7, 9 and 12, now get dressed all by themselves !!! What a blessing ! As for my 20 year old, well... Apart from asking for lifts, he's pretty much ''autonome" ;)
Hang in there !
Love you blog xxx
ahahaha! Good work :-)
Actually was a bit lame and just decided to stay in all day with both kids. Dunno what's worst (a 3-yr-old actually needs to go outside to get his sillies out or-else he came maybe become a little bit of a pain in the ---)...
Mon bébé de 4 semaines est bien au chaud dans son petit coulou mais, malheureusement, il fait trop froid pour aller marcher dehors!
Lucca didn't go to pre school yesterday because i didn't have it in me to dress/undress strap/unstrap 2 kids..... bad habits are fostered early..... oops.
