Oar-iginal Art
I had been looking for a cool object to hang on our wall for a while and we finally found one! You see, there's a molding that cuts across our wall so we have to hang frames below the moldings, which leave a pretty bare space above the molding. I wanted something long, narrow and, more importantly, interesting. After looking at old signs at overpriced vintage stores it dawned on me: an oar!
I knew that we had old ones at our cottage so I asked my mother to look around next time she was at our family's place up North. Sure enough, she found a 50+ year old oar that had just the right amount of wear and tear. I painted a couple of red stripes on it and hung it up with some coat hooks. Not only is it a nice piece but it also has a great story!

This is such a great idea. Keep up the good work. Since moving to Montreal I've used all of your restaurant and cafe tips.
