New Holiday Recipes

Mike and I are hosting my parents and his family on Christmas Eve and I've been planning the menu for a good month now. Since my mother-in-law is making a traditional turkey dinner on the 25th, I've been looking for recipes that are festive without repeating the classic flavor combos that we'll have on Christmas Day. I'm also excited to start some of our own food traditions around the Holidays. My brother and I are adamant that my mom always cook the same meals on Christmas Eve (Chinese fondue) and Christmas Day brunch (Eggs Benedict). It's something we look forward to all year and despite her attempts to change it up, we still insist on the same menu. I hope that my kids will look forward to some of our as yet undetermined family classics. Here are some of the dishes I'll be trying out.

{Sweet & Tangy Brisket by Smitten Kitchen}

{Baked Onions by Jamie Oliver}

{Rosemary and Pepper Buns by Cook Like a Champion}

What about you? What are some classic family dishes that you look forward to during the Holidays?

May I ask where you are purchasing your brisket from? Thanks!

My grandfather being Italian, my grandmother always prepares a lasagna and we eat that amongst other very eclectic non-traditionnal but comforting dishes. It's a change from the "traditionnal" meal (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes...)I'll eat elsewhere and that I also appreciate. Merry Christmas to you!

These look amazing. Those stuffed onions look particularly amazing. I am actually going to try them sometime this week! Thanks for sharing.

Chinese fondue is also the traditional meal in my family!! My grandma makes it on the 24 along with her almond rice and then it's tourtière and mashed potatoes on the 25. :)
Have a great first Christmas with Theo!!

@Louise: I am getting mine at Le Bifteque on Cote-de-Liesse. I have been told by many friends that it's the best place to get a brisket and you don't have to pre-order!
