Kaffeeklatsch

On Sunday I had the pleasure of attending a "Rhubarb Social Kaffeeklatsch" (a german term meaning "an informal social gathering for coffee and conversation") at celebrated Montreal restaurant Laloux. Their pastry chef Michelle Marek creates a themed menu offering 4 pâtisseries, 4 petits fours and coffee! You pick 1 of each, pay $12 and enjoy a really lovely afternoon break at one of the city's best bistros. Not too shabby.

This was Laloux's third kaffeeklatsch this year and the theme was rhubarb! They invited Stéphanie Labelle from Patisserie Rhubarbe (one of the most AMAZING pastry shops in town), to create some of her sweet delicacies too. I had the rhubarb tart with almond cream and a lintzer cookie. They were both heavenly. I'm not a huge fan of rhubarb but this one was so sweet and tasted of vanilla. It melted in your mouth like candy.

I also stole a bite of the fresh strudel, rhubarb religieuse and the chocolate and apricot cake. I can also attest to their deliciousness.
