learning to say no

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. Actually the last year has been a whirlwind. I have so many exciting things happening and I am extremely grateful but lately all I seem to focus on is the negative. I have these perfectly rational moments where I understand that I feel this way because I'm tired and overwhelmed but I still can't seem to forgive myself for not being able to juggle all these balls at once. Having too much on ones' plate only leads to frustration because you inevitably end up feeling like you can't give 100% to each task; like you're half-assing everything and constantly letting others down - or letting yourself down. Well I sort of hit a wall this week and it made me realize that it's ok to say no. It's ok to put your hands in the air and say "enough". I did that yesterday. I lay in bed, took a few deep breaths and re-prioritized my to-do list. It was long overdue and it felt great. My new motto: Pick your battles, exercise patience and cut yourself some slack. There's an Etsy print for ya!

I can understand losing sight of everything that you've accomplished and end up focusing only on the negative. Just believe that you've gotten to where you are on you being yourself and that the inspiration you instill in us every day keeps us motivated to keep on going too.

Ditto! I'm glad to hear you were able to put things in perspective. Great advice that I will bare in mind next time I feel overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing!

Great advice and I hope you're feeling better! I like how you re-prioritized while laying in bed... it'll remind you to add SLEEP to that list!... and how comfortable your bed can be ;)

Hang in there! (not an etsy print, but a cat once made a killing on this poster).
