On Friday, Mike and I went to Bu and had one of the best Italian meals we've had in a while. I woke up on Saturday promising myself I would go for a long walk and eat light. Well, that went out the window when Rob, Chris and I went to Jean-Talon Market to browse the goods. I just love that place. The vendors are so knowledgeable and friendly. We nibbled on sausages on a stick, fried cod and cheeses while picking out ingredients for our supper.

By the time we walked back from the market we were (miraculously) hungry again. We started to prepare our market loot and it basically turned into a 4 hour feast. We drank tons of great wine, sang along to the Glee soundtrack and watched The Wiz while nibbling on more homemade sausages, roasted squash, tomato and cheese tart, asparagus, cheese and fresh figs.

I woke up this morning with a slight headache and a full stomach but apparently not too full to enjoy the delicious brunch Kate had prepared for us. She made fresh biscuits and raspberry lemon muffins - how could I possibly resist?

So now I'm full again but very satisfied with my food and friend-filled weekend.

sounds like an excellent weekend to me! everything looks delicious
I don't know where to start. Everything looks so delicious. The bagels...and the pizza. I had my first good West Coast pizza this weekend but have yet to find delicious bagels. The market looks so incredible -- I just adore ones like this.
lol..what a feast of a weekend you had!!!
I just love the Jean-talon Market. We recently bought a house and one of my criteria was that the house had to be situated at a walking distance of the Jean-talon market. Now that we living 3 blocks away from the market, we go every week end and we always come back with great food and having meet great people. Ps: the cheese ( tom de chèvre) from the Chevrerie is really good and I recommend to everyone. Thanks for the great post, now I can't wait for the week end to come for our weekly tour of the market!
ummm... excuse me? This is what you do when I'm away? Have BRUNCH? To add insult to injury, it looks delicious! (yes, I just saw this even though you posted it lat week. I'm LJ-ing even from Israel, though a little late)
