I got some great comments and questions about
the inspiration behind our wedding menus (thank you!) so I thought I would write a little bit more about how graphic and industrial design might be a great place to look for inspiration when designing your own wedding materials. If you do decide to go the DIY route, don't limit yourself to wedding blogs/magazines/sites. Don't get me wrong, they're full of inspiration but sometimes it can be overwhelming because there are too many pretty things on there and narrowing down becomes impossible! This is why I
also recommend looking at sites like
The Dieline and
Lovely Package. For some reason, it was much easier for me to pick packaging I liked and re-work it to fit our wedding theme than it was to try and make someone else's wedding designs our own. Those
vodka bottles inspired me and that's what I needed. Besides, I'm much more decisive when I'm shopping at the pharmacy or at the grocery store than when I'm browsing hundreds of wedding invitation styles....Here are some more examples of how this could work (done very quickly but I think you get the idea)!

Sites like
DaFont and
Stuck Labels are great when you can't find special shapes and fonts to fit your look. They're also a great way to procrastinate!

This is one of the coolest posts ever. I've been out of town so I'm just now catching up, but there is some seriously cool stuff here. I'm very impressed with you, Meve!
