DIY flower headpiece

I guess I was feeling pretty crafty this weekend because I decided to try my hand at making a flower headpiece for the wedding. I had been browsing headpieces online for quite some time but wasn't quite finding 'the one'. As time began to run out, a custom piece was looking less likely too. So on Saturday morning I found an old chiffon blouse of mine, some old necklaces and got to work.

I cut out some paper stencils (one small and one large) and cut traced them out on some tulle and on my old blouse. I cut on the shapes and then layered them, always rotating the shape so that the petals didn't overlap.

I pinned the petals together to make sure I didn't lose the shape once it was just right.

I took apart an old bracelet and a necklace using pliers. I chose a larger bead for the center and sewed it into place. I then started adding a mix of small pearls and crystals (all fake) around the larger stone.

To finish it off I added a bit of extra tulle to the backing. I (very clumsily) sewed a comb into place, making sure to sew the petals into place.

I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the end result...and with the price tag (0$) Hooray for recycling!
